Jan 21, 2017 My Device Manager still shows the PCI Serial Port with no driver. I am a relative novice (well a 78y.o. One!), and I don't know what the PCI serial port does. Everything seems to work alright on the computer, apart from an old (HP 710C DeskJet) printer attached to a printer port (LPT1:). What am I seeing?

Microsoft Windows* Device Manager displays PCI Device and PCI Serial Port with a yellow question mark after the onboard LAN, video, and chipset driver installation.

PCI Device and PCI Serial Port are components of Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT). Intel® AMT isn't available without the driver installed for these components. The .inf file for these devices is included in the LAN driver package (10.4 or later), and not in the Intel® Chipset Driver package.

Download new and previously released drivers including support software, bios, utilities, firmware and patches for Intel products.

How to fix it

Install iamt.inf using one of the methods below, based on your LAN driver package.

Manual installation
1. Extract the LAN driver package.
2. Select PCI Device in Microsoft Windows Device Manager.
3. Browse for iamt.inf in Windows, under platformIntelAMTDriversWS03XP2K (for IA32) or platformIntelAMTDriversWS3XPX64 (for EM64T).
4. To install, double-click iamt.inf (or select the file, right-click, and choose open).
5. Follow the same steps for PCI Serial Port.

Setup utility installation
1. To install the LAN drivers and iamt.inf, run the setup utility in appssetupSETUPBD.
2. Or install the LAN drivers, PROSET software, and iamt.inf from appsPROSETDX.
